FSC Design Award - Wooden Fairy Tales
The FSC Design Award is a contest for students enrolled in HBO institutions and universities in the Netherlands.
The assignment – framework and tips
Design an object in the ‘home and garden’ category. Be sure to focus on the use of (tropical) FSC timber. The scale and design of your model is all up to you. The design will be judged by professionals based on its design, its underlying idea and sustainability choices. You can think of material cost savings; the extent that your idea extends the product’s life span; and the use of lesser known timber species.
Theme: Wooden Fairy Tales
This year’s theme of the FSC Design Award is ‘Wooden Fairy Tales’. We want to demystify some of the facts around using timber from (rain)forests and show how FSC timber can in fact protect our woods. And we show that FSC timber, with its unique texture, color and smell, is a magical material to work with.
You can subscribe for and participate in the FSC Design Award until Friday January 15nd 2016. In February 2016, the top ten designers will present their ideas at our annual FSC Event. Here participants will have an opportunity to connect with stakeholders where the panel will announce the winner of the FSC Design Award. The winner travels to Bolivia in the spring of 2016 and keeps followers informed on his or her adventure.
